Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Known for deriving 'fluid metal sculptures' which seem to have been effortlessly carved out of metal. This in part stems from an educational background in architecture. In 1997 he received the Bachelor's Degree in Design Studies from the University of Adelaide in Australia, and obtained the Bachelor of Architecture from MARA University of Technology in 2000. He has been granted with numerous international awards and residencies. In 2001 he was selected for the Rimbun Dahan Residency in Malaysia and the following year was presented with the Award of Excellence at the 6th Oita Asian Sculpture Open Competition in Japan. He was a recipient for the 2004 Australian High Commission Residency in Sydney, Australia, and was commissioned through an international competition to create a major outdoor sculpture for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, China. In 2008 he was also a recipient for the Asia 21 Young Leaders Summit, Tokyo, Japan. In 2009, his work was selected for the Ordos 11th Asia Arts Festival, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China, followed by another public sculpture for the Urumqi International Urban Sculpture Symposium held in Xinjiang, China. He was the resident artist for the 2015 Cité internationale des arts, Paris and was recently granted a residency at the 2019 Château de La Napoule, on the French Riviera. Recently he won the “KATABAMI” Alumni Union Prize in which his work will be commissioned in the city of Ube, Yamaguchi, Japan.
